A while ago, you kids posted a link to the trailer sounding all excited and stuff about d-war.
I saw it this afternoon in a Korean theater and barring about ten minutes of the movie which was in Korean, I understood a substantial amount of it. The movie was... different.
D-War starts out with a voice over explaining the whole logistics of of the prophesy works. Every 500 years a person is born with the mark of the dragon. She (it's always a she in these things) is destined to either contribute to the destruction of the world or be its savior depending on who finds her first -- good or evil. This was 500 years ago in Korea. The story takes place in L.A. -- for some reason, Koreans are reincarnated as L.A. residents. The main protagonist is a reporter for a CNN ripoff and has the inability to dress himself. I get the feeling that Koreans were in charge of wardrobe. I should mention that the film is Korean with an English speaking cast.
I've no idea who the actress was that played the not-quite-20 year old but she looked like she was in her mid-20's. To Koreans, she probably looked the right age. To be fair, I've been in this country since January and I still can't tell the age of Koreans so it's a fair trade in that regard.
The movie is bad. It's down right awful and I loved every minute of it. It's entertaining as hell and for a movie like this, it's all that really matters. The so bad that it's good doctrine is in play here. There's a scene in particular where the giant snake thing eats an elephant after throwing him around.
Anywho, to get back to the synopsis, the boy has to find girl and they run from a giant fucking demon-cum-dragon thing. This evil dragon has an army of its own -- I would classify them as demons. These guys are awesome. They coulda walked right out of an episode of the Power Rangers. There's actually a scene in the film where a guy swings a sword toward a group of SWAT/para-military group of armed Americans and the ground explodes beneath them with pyrotechnics that was directly a rip-off of the Power Rangers.
The main action block of the film occurs toward the latter third of the movie when the might of American military takes on the forces of evil dragon-demon-snake-god dude. Tanks, APCs, .50 cal., helicopters with hellfire missiles, SWAT, mp5s, et al, take on dragons that spit fire, foot soldiers reminiscent of TMNT's shredder and foot clan, and giant lizard things that shoot off guided missile like projectiles. L.A. gets destroyed and it is glorious. Think American Godzilla but fun. Shit blows up, gets crushed, and blowed up some more.
The climax is pretty sweet as the Tower of Mordor appears out of left field and a giant Asian dragon appears and kicks the tard out of the evil dragon/demon snake thing. Toward the end of the film, OB-1 Kenobi makes a brief appearance -- that is if Kenboi decided to change sexes. Afterward, our hero dragon goes emo briefly before disappearing into the heavens.
I didn't mention acting because... well quite frankly, it's better to ignore most of the acting. Just think dragons and demons vs. the might of the United States military and you're going to have a good time.
My buddy and I had a blast as we laughed during the whole thing. If you get a chance to see this film in theaters, drink first. Have a few and let yourself throw all logic and reason out the window. The film is awesome for all the wrong reasons. This is a guy's night out at the theaters type of movie. You drink, see the movie, laugh, and drink some more.

제 해석의 실수일수도 있겠습니다만, 전체적으로 혹평같기도 하고, B급 무비적 감성으로 재밌다는 것 같기도 하고...;; 아리송~;;
우선 이 리뷰를 쓴 이는 지난 1월에 한국에 왔다는 군요.
몇몇을 보자면,
- 영화속에서 20살이라고 나오는 여주인공은 20대 중반 처럼 보인다. 한국사람들에게 아마 그게 맞는것처럼 보이는가 보다. 하긴, 나도 1월달에 한국에 왔지만, 한국사람들 나이를 잘 구분못하니까, 그게 그거지.
- 이 영화는 Bad다. 정말 지독해서 나는 이 영화의 모든 순간을 좋아했다.(..그쪽 애들 표현으로, 너무 형편없어서 그 자체가 웃기고 즐겁다는 말)
- (아마도 아트록스 군단이 나오는 장면 같은데,) 파워레인저의 한 에피소드가 튀어나온것 같았다.
- (아트록스 군단을 지휘하던 배역)이 SWAT과 군대를 향해 칼을 휘두르자 땅이 폭발하는데, 파워레인저에서 튀어나온것 같은 장면이었다.
- (이부분은 잘 모르겠습니다만) LA전투씬은 미국판 고질라를 생각한다면, 재밌다.
- 영화의 클라이막스에는 모르도르의 탑이 좌측에 펼쳐져있고, 동양의 용이 나타나 나쁜 이무기를 처치한다.
- 솔직히 말해서, 배우들의 연기는 무시하고 보는게 낫다. 용과 나쁜 이무기 VS 아마도 미국군대와의 전투만 생각한다면 당신은 좋은 시간을 보낼 것이다.
- 내 친구와 나는 영화내내 웃어댔다.(위에과 같은 뜻입니다.) 당신이 이 영화를 볼 기회가 생긴다면, 먼저 술을 마신후에 당신의 모든 논리와 이유를 저 멀리 던져버리고 보라. 이 영화는 심야영화 타입이다. 당신은 술을 마시고, 영화를 보고, 웃고, 또 술을 마시는.

This movie was the worst movie I have ever seen. I really don't want the director to get the wrong idea and think his movie was good, so please do not go see this movie. I'm living in korea for one year I just saw it (opening day here) worst thing I have ever seen and that's just not my obscure opinion that was the concenus through the whole theatre. I don't know what the advertisement strategy is like in America right now but I can tell you they advertised the hell out of that movie here! That should have been my first warning (ie snakes on a plane) So please let this movie crash and burn this **** should not have made the big screen! Honest to god if you don't beleive me and go see the movie you will have wished you had listened to me. So it's totally up to you, but you will regret it I guarantee it and if you don't well I'll buy you the extended dvd version when it comes out and mail it to you. That is if it makes it to dvd....

Here's the catch...
I loved every second of it. I'm one of those people who really dig the "It's so bad it's good" stuff. I can't remember a time when I've laughed so hard (and so long) in a movie theater. This movie succeeds where "Snakes on a Plane" failed. With S.O.A.P., they tried to make the movie bad -and thereby, it lost some charm. You can't "try" to make a movie as bad as D-War...a disaster such as this only happens when the moon and the stars align correctly with each other. An opportunity to see a movie like D-War on the big screen doesn't come along too often. And if you're the type of person who digs stuff like Army of Darkness, Return of the Living Dead, Alien Apocolypse, etc., you won't want to miss this chance. However, if you take your all your movies seriously, you'll probably want to stay away from D-War.

최악의 영화라는 반응이기는한데, 이블데드3나 바탈리언, Alien Apocolypse(TV용 영화 같습니다만..IMDB 유저평가 4.3/10, 이블데드의 브루스 캠벨이 나오는군요.) 같은 흔히 말하는 B급 영화를 좋아하는 사람이라면 보러가고, 그렇지 않은 사람이면, 근처도 가지 말라네요.

The story line of the movie was just crap. No, other movie to describe it. Well, I think I understand why many people in Korea has been watching this as soon as it came out and many people want to watch it. First of all, you got to understand these FOB's these idiots think all because a movie came out of the U.S. doesn't mean that its good. Actually, its a shame. The movie had really good scenes but it was all wasted on one crappy story line. So its about two dragons that came to Earth from Heaven. The only way they can go back is by consuming this one girl at the age of 20 that reincarnates ever 500 years and only one can come to heaven. Also the girl will be born with a dragon tattoo between her shoulder and her left breast. Obviously one of the dragons has to be bad and the other is good. Like always good always win but I wont tell you how it goes but given you a summary. So the girl gets born from a Korean woman from a rich family. Like most crazy Asian tales, a religious guy comes to the grandfather of the girl and tells him yeah your daughter is going to be consumed by a dragon and they want the girl to be consumed by the good one and that he has to let that happen. Oh no, the old man gets pissed and yeah, he's shocked. So the religious guy trains a boy to get ready for the time. a couple of years latter when the girl turns 20, here comes D-day. You would see the Koreans loose to the evil dragons army and boom! Gone in less than like a minute. The girl gets taken away following the yellow brick road to being consumed. Then, by Dragon Ball style or Star Wars, what ever way you would like to put it, the crazy religious guy and his pupil comes to save the girl. the pupil takes the girl to a safe place for a while and the crazy religious guy holds the evil dragons army of for a while until he gets a slash on his right arm. The man runs away and they evil dragons army find the girl and the pupil and chases them. Oh yeah by the way, sorry for not saying this earlier but the boy and the girl are lovers yeah... Any ways the pupil and the girl gets cornered to a cliff and they commit suicide so evil will not prevail. 500 years later, the crazy old religious guy is a Korean antique shop owner, the pupil is a reporter and the girl is a regular teen at the age of 19 almost twenty and boom the evil dragons movie is here to take over heaven then the world.

Face it, it was a crappy story that even over 90 percent of the audience didn't even understand the story.
Scenes, 8 out of 10.
Hey the scenes where good but the story line was crap.
Sound effects, 9 out of 10.
The sound effects were really awesome, you can hear really crazy sounds.
Music, 7 out of 10.
Just an average back ground music that just matches the mood, and the style is way old and not that creative.
Acting, 7 out of 10.
Every thing was good but the crazy old religious man in his reincarnation form couldn't act that well. For his part.
Grade Average, 6 out of 10.
Every thing else was good but the story line was crap people.
Personal opinions,
If you don't want to just throw away time, don’t watch this movie.
If you want to observe the scenes, sound effects, digital computer animated scenes, act. then just watch it but I prefer watching Back to the Future 100 times than this.
Any ways, God bless America, support the war in Iraq if you want to prevent another 9/11. Please pray for those who died by terrorist, including the ones from 9/11, soldiers in iraq, any hostages, any who died from the hands of the terrorist and help the Arabic nations for peace.

Sound effects, 9 out of 10. Fine. That dragon screamed. (When it had 5 chances to quickly eat the girl. Why didn't it???)
Music, 7 out of 10. I don't remember much about the music. Nothing memorable... it wasn't like Star Wars or anything.
Acting, 7 out of 10??? You must be joking!! How about that cheesy, clumsy security guard!? How about the mean looking power ranger soldiers?? How about the no-name cheesy chief of staff?? I was thinking more like '2'. A few actors did ok, but too many other actors made me smirk. SO cheesy.
Grade Average, 6 out of 10?? I'm thinking more like 2.
This movie was horrible. Even if you're hungover on Christmas with no family, and in jail.... DON'T watch this movie.

Acting in this movie was HORRIBLE !!! Both the American and Korean actors were HORRIBLE !!! They didn't put in any emotion into their acting. Their acting was the type of acting you'd see in those softcore porn movies. HORRIBLE !!!
